Who we are

Brackish Books ("we", "us") operates the financial planning and operations platform at brackishbooks.org. We build software for small commercial aquaculture and agriculture businesses.

What we collect

• Planning records you enter — products, pricing, enterprise budgets, cash-flow plans, sales, and expenses — are kept in your own browser while you work. We do not receive them unless you have an account and choose to save them.
• Account details, if you make an account: your email address, and the workspace you save (farms, products, cost lines, plans, recorded periods, and imported orders). An account is optional.
• Feedback and name-suggestion submissions: if you send feedback or vote on a name, the message, any screenshot you attach, and the page you were on are saved to our database.
• Usage data: page views and basic browser/device info used to diagnose issues. We do not sell this data.
• Diagnostics: error reports and feedback you submit through the in-app feedback tool.

How we use it

• To keep the planning tools working in your browser.
• To hold the workspace you choose to save, and give it back to you on request.
• To fix bugs and improve the product.
• To respond to feedback and support requests you send us.

How we store and protect it

Without an account, your planning records stay in your browser — closing the tab or clearing your browser data removes them, and nothing is synced. If you sign in and press Save to my account, that copy is held in a hosted database where only your own account can read it. The feedback and name-vote submissions we receive are held in the same database with access restricted to site administrators. All traffic is served over HTTPS.

Brackish Course

If you are taking Brackish Course, you can sign in here with the same email address. Nothing is passed to us from the course: no grades, no notes, no progress, and no payment details. We do not create accounts for students who have not opened this tool themselves, and you can use Brackish Books without the course, or stop using it, with neither side breaking.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share data only with the infrastructure providers we depend on to run the service, and with third-party services you explicitly connect.

Cookies and tracking

We do not use third-party advertising trackers. A sign-in session is created only when you sign in; the planning tools work without an account.

Your rights

Your planning records are yours. Without an account they already live on your device, so clearing your browser storage deletes them. With an account, Settings has a button that deletes the saved copy, and you can write to the address below to have the account itself removed. To have feedback you sent us removed, email the same address.

Children

The platform is intended for use by adults operating commercial farm and harvest operations. It is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We will post material changes to this policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
